Access to SLUUG systems requires use of a valid SLUUG account and password. Remote connection to an account for interactive access or file transfer is generally done using SSH since it encrypts the data including the password. Interactive access is by a client program such as the ssh command. Support programs such as sftp or scp are used for file transfer. Clients for using SSH are available for many platforms free from several resources. See www.openssh.org for a client for your system and more information. See the ssh keys page for information about verifying the sever's SSH key when making a connection. Remote connections for mail access should be done using secure POP or secure IMAP. See the ssl certificates page for information about verifying the sever's certificate when making a connection. |
