Presentation "Computer Telephony," by Tony Zafiropoulos President, iTEK, Inc. ==================================================================== PRESENTATION: Computer Telephony by Tony Zafiropoulos, President, iTEK, Inc. Computer Telephony is a $3.5 billion, 30%/year growth industry, with many areas growing over 100%/year. Computer Telephony has two basic goals: to please customers and to enhance corporate productivity The CTI-Users Group has been formed to discuss the new melding of the Telecommunications and Computing world. Almost all current telephone systems (PBX-Private Branch Exchange) are proprietary systems running on different flavors of UNIX. Computer Telephony is moving towards an 'open' systems idea. In this open system one can plug either a SCSA (Signal Computing System Architecture) or MVIP (Multi-Vendor Integrated Protocol) Bus protocol Telecom card into a 'PC' either running UNIX, Windows, or DOS. On top of the OS and the Telecom cards are the applications: Voice Mail, Call Processing, etc. The presentation will be an overview of Computer Telephony. ==================================================================== TUTORIAL: Standard Query Language (SQL) by Mike Kriz Standard Query Language is a common dialect for the human query interface to database engines. It is gaining popularity as a common interface to database engines and a method to make interfaces to multiple database engines possible. Client server architectures demand a database independent interface which could be offered by SQL. This tutorial will be an introduction to what the different SQL standards are, examples of what they consist of, and where to look if you need to know more about SQL. ==================================================================== Meetings: ---------------------------------------------------------------- May 8, 6:30pm Main meeting Sunnen Products, 7910 Manchester ---------------------------------------------------------------- May 14, 6:00pm Steering Committee The Steering Committee meets the Tuesday following the general 2nd Wednesday meeting at 6:00 PM in the 2nd floor training room of Daugherty Systems, located at One City Place in Creve Coeur.
