Presentation
Networking Baseline & Modeling, by Jarrett Knoll, Management Communication
Services
The impact of network baselining and application profiling to network
modeling. What constitutes a baseline, traffic, application performance,
response time? What should be modeled and how much of the network can be
modeled?
An important aspect of network health is having a baseline which
describes the current state of your network. You then can use modeling
techniques to create 'what if' situations which can be used to both
investigate current network problems as well as explore the consequences
of different types of growth. This presentation will describe techniques
and give examples of software for the creation of a baseline and modeling
techniques.
Jarrett Knoll is Vice President, Technical Services, Management
Communication Services. Mr. Knoll has 22+ years in the business with
the last ten plus in network management and diagnostics. He has worked
with DCA, ARC, TTC, and other acronyms. More recently with Network
General Sniffer products, Concord Network Health, Optimal Networks
modeling and performance products, Visual Networks, Remedy Action Request
Systems, etc.
