Atypical Member or Presenter

The atypical SLUUG member is quite extraordinary. So are our presenters.

Some are employed in the Information Technology field.
Some are not, but very interested.

Some are well educated.
Some are not, but extremely experienced.

Some have families, and pets.
Some have non-technical interests and even hobbies.

Robert Citek, M.S

As a former St. Louis resident, Robert remains an active and contributing member of our group. He now lives in a desert area of the South-West USA, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Robert Citek is currently a Data Science instructor with the Central New Mexico Community College. He has over 25 years of experience in biotech, healthcare, and research, focusing primarily in bioinformatics. Robert is passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with students and helping them to develop the skills they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving world of data science.

Robert, while formerly residing and working in the Pacific Northwest, was building and using Docker containers to solve bioinformatics problems for the Molecular Genomics Lab at Providence Health and Services.

When Robert is not wrangling data, you can find him hiking the local trails ( very much like he previously used to do in Forest Park, in St. Louis ) or cycling the many bike paths with his better half and her dog.

Bio as of 8 April 2026.
