Writing to Your Best Friend For Fun and Profit
Ever since he was 16 (1987), Craig dreamed of controlling his computer with
his voice. It is nearly 40 years later, and he's is not much further along
in making that dream a reality.Lately, he's been giving it some more
effort. The journey can provide us with some valuable insights, along with
some curmudgeonly rants.
In this two part series, we will explore where we are with speaking to the
computer.
In the first part (Wednesday May 14), we covered dictation, voice control,
and text-to-speech.In this second part, we will explore using voice with
Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) and coding.
AI is changing how we do a lot of things. This includes how we interact
with our devices, especially when we're writing code.
We will demonstrate conversations with AI assistants like *Claude *and
*ChatGPT*. We will then do some *voice coding with GitHub Copilot*.
Finally, we will demonstrate *Cursorless*, an entirely different way to
think about interacting with code.
