%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
ORDER OF EVENTS:
First some simple introductions, administrative minutia, announcements,
and then you can Call For Help during our Questions and Answers period.
Sometimes we will watch a video or have a slide show presentation,
after which there will be general discussions that usually lead to
additional topics.
Sometimes, there can be a live demonstration of a Linux distribution
(distro) installation, updating, changes, features and applications.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
TOPICS:
Whatever the newest user needs to know.
The newest user in the meeting may select general and specific topics.
We won't pick just one ahead of time. We will accept suggestions and
requests, as the course of the meeting will be entirely up to those
that attend. Join us to share our knowledge, learning experiences,
problem solving, techniques and troubleshooting.
We can mostly explore the traditional Graphical User Interface (GUI),
as it is easy to use, often familiar, and friendly to use. We will NOT
focus on the Command Line Interface (CLI) as it is seldom required and
generally optional for day to day use. However, it has many benefits.
We have access to many formal slide show presentations; but, we use
them only to present information and encourage discussion. We encourage
and prefer lively interaction and user questions. We always want user
questions to be asked. We never think that any question is too dumb.
A selected topic will NOT restrict the course of our meetings. These
topics are tentative. They are only suggestions.

TOPIC: Syncthing by Tyler Rudie
An Unexpected Journey
When the Software vendor Vaders the solution, or how I learned to
use Syncthing when Plex decided to stop doing its job.
It is a tale as old as computers. A Computer Wizard comes along
and shows how they can make your life easier and all you have to
do is pay them. Then a few years later, ok 6 years later, they
up and say that some other Balrog is a better use of their time.
This is how I replaced the Camera Upload function in Plex with
the Syncthing Process.
Syncthing is a free, open-source peer-to-peer file synchronization
application available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Solaris,
Darwin, and BSD. It can sync files between devices on a local network,
or between remote devices over the Internet. Data security and data
safety are built into the design of the software.

Tyler Rudie is the Lead Code Monkey for Siemens Industry Software

you got hired. He currently spends his days abusing the Python
and Powershell so he can take long naps at work. So far no luck,
management and coworkers keep finding him things to do. Demonstrating
the core economic principle of unlimited want way to well. He has
a bad habit of using overkill in most of his projects. One of these
days he will get back to his Photography and Astrophotography hobbies.

BASE:
"Upgrading RAID6 with Zero Downtime From six
2T to eight 4T".
by Lee Lammert
There is a lot of hype about "zero downtime", and many vendors charge
boucoup dinero for that sort of hardware capability to have when upgrading
a storage array.
With Linux SoftRAID, however, don't believe the hype - "zero downtime" has
nothing to do with hardware!
This tutorial will cover upgrading a 6x2T SoftRAID array to 6x4T, and then
adding two more 4T drives, without any downtime or service interruption.
MAIN:
RedHat Kickstart
by Steven Gomez
Red Hat's Kickstart installations offer a means to automate the installation process, either partially or fully.
Kickstart files contain answers to all questions normally asked by the installation program, such as what
time zone you want the system to use, how the drives should be partitioned, or which packages should
be installed. Providing a prepared Kickstart file when the installation begins therefore allows you to
perform the installation automatically, without need for any intervention from the user.
Kickstart features can be an Admin's best friend. This session will present examples of how to use the
Kickstart system with RHEL/CentOS platforms to automate the creation of "cookie cutter" systems in an
easily repeatable manner. Working examples of various methods using of Kickstarts will be included.
(Also works on Fedora per RH.)
=====================================
SLUUG is your forum for exchanging information about OPEN standards, OPEN systems,
OPEN source, products, services and architectures.
We usually start the general meeting with our BASE introductory level session (often focused on
personal computing), which may include either simple tutorials, displays of newly discovered web sites,
command line wonders, demonstrations of useful applications, amazing graphical packages, major resolution
of long standing anomalies, blinking lights, or quantum shifts in both time and space. Then we will have our
usually quick welcome, introduction, administrative announcements, and a Call For Help - Q&A Period.
After all that, we take a break before our MAIN event.
