The SLUUG Steering Committee meetings are open to all interested
in helping to direct our sponsored meetings.
There will be NO PHYSICAL MEETINGS until further notice.
For now ONLINE session testing will use JITSI remote video meeting software.
Will be using https://meet.jit.si/SteerCommForApril to connect; but;
please do not connect before 6:30 PM.
WATCH AHEAD:
> How to videoconference with Jitsi [TUTORIAL] YouTube
> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-31LT0zQK4 (That's a zero)
After watching you should better understand the following:
RECOMMEND:
1. Don't forget to "Open Chat", you can ask questions there.
2. More Actions, manage Video Quality as Low Definition. Using
Low Bandwidth makes you screen go away.
3. More Actions, Settings, Profile to set you display name
(I will use stanr_314-298-1833).
Don't bother to "Set your gravatar email" (it's complicated).
4. Please mute yourself as much as possible.
**Please do not connect before 6:30 PM**

As you may have suspected… tonite’s
Newcomer Linux Users Group is cancelled.
We did NOT push to do it as a remote meeting. If you are disappointed that we did not, please let us know.
We are also open to suggestions as to how to best do that for future mtngs of this LUG & SLACC.
Post on DISCUSS or send a note to editor@SLUUG.
2 things the week are of important note!
1. The regular 2nd Wed General SLUUG Mtng.
2. This week is the SLACC! Yes…this is 1 week earlier than normal (due to library scheduling issues).
DETAILS of both below:

BASE nmap Scripts by Tony Z
There is a function within nmap to use scripting capability called the nmap scripting engine (NSE).
Using this scripting engine and the hundreds of vulnerability functions, one can run a network wide vulnerability scan. Which may be useful in some situations.
https://nmap.org/book/man-nse.html <https://www.google.com/url?q=https://nmap.org/book/man-nse.html&sa=D&usd=2&…>
For example – I noticed with some OpenVAS scans a certain vulnerability was present in a few client systems (MS17-010 – EternalBlue)
So I plugged in the script test for ms17-010 and now I know _all_ the systems in the network without running a hundred OpenVAS scans (which tend to be noisier as well).
MAIN Amateur Radio and Open Source Software by Kyle Kreig
Open source is alive and well in the Amateur Radio community. Many Amateur Radio operators have designed and maintain open source projects that run on both the PC and Linux platforms to help hobbyists make contacts around the world with their radios. In the presentation we will explore what is Amateur Radio, how to get into the hobby and some of the open source software applications one can use to get on the air and make contacts. If you have your Amateur Radio license, we'd love to see you! If you are new to Amateur Radio or have any interest in the hobby, come to the meeting and get more info!
SLUUG is your forum for exchanging information about OPEN standards, OPEN systems, OPEN source, products, services and architectures.
We usually start the general meeting with our BASE introductory level session (often focused on personal computing), which may include either simple tutorials, displays of newly discovered web sites, command line wonders, demonstrations of useful applications, amazing graphical packages, major resolution of long standing anomalies, blinking lights, or quantum shifts in both time and space. Then we will have our usually quick welcome, introduction, administrative announcements, and a Call For Help - Questions and Answers Period. After all that, we take a break before our MAIN event.

VENUE St. Louis County Library - Thornhill Branch, 12863 Willowyck Dr, St. Louis, MO 63146
These meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of every month from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Meetings are free and open to the public.
Room fees have been paid by the St. Louis Unix Users Group (SLUUG). We have no membership dues or other charges for the meetings. So, please join us at our next meeting or event for fun, knowledge and networking. All hardware, operating systems and software are explored....
We hold a Linux Configuration Workshop when nothing else more interesting comes up, or when there is no other event or activity scheduled. Problems with other operating systems and hardware are also frequently fixed. New software tools are often demonstrated.
Linux is an Internet capable Networking Operating System that provides many fully functional applications that perform well on both older and new computers. Most Linux distributions are free or low cost and provides an extremely reliable and cost effective alternative to high priced proprietary software.
The workshop is where we usually examine, troubleshoot, fix and repair difficult hardware and software configuration problems for Linux newcomers.
Bring your Linux PC to our hands on workshop to troubleshoot your Linux installation, network connection or X Window GUI configuration problem. We have full connectivity to the Internet on site and know how to use it.
Just remember to bring your laptop or your PC with monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, cords, power strips and two discs or USB Thumbdrives.
Our company has issued a policy for visitors on the COVID-19 virus. I plan
on wiping down everything Bleach Wipes, but just so you are aware. This
will effect the SLUUG meeting on March 11th.

2. Do you have a household or close family member who has traveled to
mainland China, Iran, Italy (entire) or South Korea? (Note:

method in madness. It's what drives men mad, being methodical.

Rather than call this issue… “This Week”… lets just say that everything happens on Wed! ;-)
1.
AT the SLUUG mtngs we have done 7 or so “Cloud talks” in the last year. The last 2 had Joe Epstein take a step back ad give us the 40,000 ft overview to review how & why. The next was Steven Lembark taking us to the details of VPC Virtual Private Connections. SO…tomorrow…Wed…if you want to go AWS (rather than Google or MS Azure)...
There is an all-day AWS Immersion intro class starting at 8AM!!
You should probably sign up in advance.
2.
Podcaster (netcaster, radio) Leo Leporte of TWIT.TV <https://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2FTWIT.TV&sa=D&ust=1583598297645000…> network will be in Saint Louis!
Starting at 7:30pm he will be found at the Trainwreck Saloon in Westport Plaza. Informal meet up, with no host bar, buy your own food and drink.
3.
The C/C++ group is holding their usual monthly mtng in the evening. Tell them you have come from SLUUG since they now don’t meet on conflicting day.
4.
The Hadoop Big Data mtng is Wed nite. Apache Airflow is their topic.
5.
And a number of other things. “Why does everything happen at once? I thought ‘TIME’ was God’s idea to stop that!?!?”
