The shower itself has a cyclic peak year every 33 years where hundreds of meteors can be seen each hour. The last of these occurred in 2001. The shower usually peaks on November 17 & 18, but you may see some meteors from November 13 - 20. The nearly last quarter moon may hide some of the faintest meteors this year, but this should still be an excellent show. What is meant when people say, "I rooted my phone" 2. Using the IDE 3. The role of the OS in supporting an application 4. Gathering information from third party apps using the debugging environment. 5. Making remote calls to external services or systems. 6. A section on Davlik 7. A timeline showing some of the innovations between now and when android was first released. I think people start to take for granted the amount of and the pace of change in this space and then they don't realize every little shift that has taken place. It's good to step back and take an inventory of where the platform has been. I'll probably cover a few other miscellaneous topics that may fit in with the UNIX aspects of Android. Bio: Received my Bachelors in Computer Science from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana in 1998. Went on to work for Lockheed Martin, Express Scripts, a small multinational startup, did several stints as a consultant for various local companies, and am now working for Asynchrony Solutions on a contract for the U.S. Airforce. McDonnell Hall is accessible from Forsyth Boulevard via Tolman Way. The event, cosponsored by NASA's Missouri Space Grant Consortium, is open to the public free of charge. We used to think of the Universe as a quiet, peaceful place. Stars sparkled serenely through the jet black of outer space, seemingly changeless and eternal. That picture has changed. Stars much more massive than our sun voraciously consume their nuclear fuel and then suffer violent deaths in supernova explosions. Enormous black holes lurk in the centers of many galaxies, pulling in dust and gas and spewing some of this material out in ultra-high speed jets extending for thousands of trillions of miles. These most violent of astronomical objects produce torrents of the highest energy particles – gamma rays. Special instruments are needed to detect gamma rays and so observe these objects. Dr. Beilicke will explain how these Cherenkov telescopes work.
