The impending revolution of physics that would unravel this Gordian Knot was triggered in 1900 when Max Planck realized that physics at small scales must include a hitherto unknown constant of nature -- "h", the 'quantum of action'. In this talk we will explore how the mere existence of this fundamental constant changes the way we look at the world, from energy to the uncertainty principle, and how it hints at physics we do not know yet.
